Did you see it? Most hurry past it. Let’s not. Pull out a pen and
underline this twelve-letter masterpiece.

Nevertheless.

“Nevertheless David took the stronghold …”

Wouldn’t you love God to write a nevertheless in your biography? Born to
alcoholics, nevertheless she led a sober life. Never went to college,
nevertheless he mastered a trade. Didn’t read the Bible until retirement
age, nevertheless he came to a deep and abiding faith.

We all need a nevertheless. And God has plenty to go around. Strongholds
mean nothing to him. Remember Paul’s words? “We use God’s mighty
weapons, not mere worldly weapons, to knock down the Devil’s
strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:4 NLT).

You and I fight with toothpicks; God comes with battering rams and
cannons. What he did for David, he can do for us. The question is, will we
do what David did? The king models much here.

Two types of thoughts continually vie for your attention. One proclaims
God’s strengths; the other lists your failures. One longs to build you
up; the other seeks to tear you down. And here’s the great news: you
select the voice you hear. Why listen to the mockers? Why heed their
voices? Why give ear to pea-brains and scoffers when you can, with the
same ear, listen to the voice of God?

Do what David did.
Turn a deaf ear to the old voices.
Open a wide eye to the new choices.
Who knows, you may be a prayer away from a nevertheless. God loves to give
them.

Joseph was imprisoned in Egypt.
The Samaritan woman had been married five times.
Jesus was dead in the grave …

Nevertheless, Peter preached, Joseph ruled, the woman shared, Jesus

Reflections

The week is ending once again, and the weekend is here. Let's take this time to reflect and remind ourselves of what God has spoken to us thru LG and sermon last Saturday and whether we have made changes to our lifestyles this week.

Firstly, God reminded us to persevere in our everyday life, such as worship, study of the Word and prayer. These things though small, add up. Just as a body needs food, so does our soul. We need to feed our bodies with the right things to be fit. Eating junk food everyday will make us unhealthy and sick. Same with our spiritual walk, if we feed on God's Word we will glow with health. But if we feast on the junk and drink polluted waters from the drain flowing of the world, we will smell exactly like them. A stench will come out from us. Does our life give off a stench that smells of the world? Or have we been soaking in the perfume of God's presence?
Secondly, God spoke to us thru a vision that Aunty Lillian saw as we responded to God. The vision was of Jesus standing in the centre of the circle looking at us. Then there were the various doors of our hearts that have been open to the devil, allowing him to give us the junk of the world to mess up our lives. But Jesus stands and asks us, where is the door that is open to Him? Have we readily accepted the junk from the devil? It's time to open our hearts to God again.

Questions to Ask Ourselves

Think about our lives this week and evaluate it according to all that God has challenged us to do:

Did i open my heart to God instead of the devil? Have i been actively resisting the devil and opening my heart to God instead?
What are the "junks" in my life that i need to get rid of?(specific sins, habits, temptations.)
Have i taken any actions to get rid of them?
Have i been persevering in the small things? (private worship, study of God's Word and prayer)

Living for God

It's never too late to respond to God. Even you did not respond, you can still do so in your Quiet Time and start to take active steps. If you did respond but were not able to live it out, don't give up just bcos you failed once. Determine to pick yourself up and keep trying till you know that you have made progress. True change is the fruit of perseverance and diligence. It is a result of the faithfulness of a child of God as he/she steps out of the safe church environment into the world where temptations are aplenty and the Prince of the World rules with his iron fist.

The true test of our committment does not lie in the number of tears we shed at the altar or how earnest we are at the point of decision. No, it's right there in the world. It is there in the canteen when you are sitting with your non-christian friends and they start to gossip, backstab, scold swear words, and you sit listening. You are tempted to join in talk that is not pleasing to God, that will pierce His heart. Or the test could come when at the end of the day you come home wanting to watch your favourite TV programme,and God waits. He waits for you to fulfill your committment to be faithful in the little things. But you dilly dally till its past bedtime and you fall asleep, passing Him by. The test can comes in the privacy of our rooms, in front of our computers, away from the eyes of Christian brothers and sisters, with only self to answer before God. How far would you take your committment to God? Has it started and stopped at the altar?

In the world where temptations abound, in the secrecy of your room, in the mundane routine of life...God is asking....are you willing to live for me, child? Because this is where the real change happens. This is what matters to God. It does not end at a Saturday altar call. It starts there...

Perseverance

The good news is... God doesn't care how many times you try but fail. Your mind may tell you that God has given up on you just because this is the umpteenth time you've failed Him. But God doesn't care, as long as you've tried wholeheartedly. Repentance after failure is what matters to Him. A repentant heart each time you fail. And a perseverance to see it thru. A perseverance that says, "God, no matter how many times i fail, i'm gonna try again till i get it right. Till i get it right Lord, i'm not gonna give up on you." The apostle Paul writes to encourage us in the same way, not to take our failure or our bad past to heart, but to press on. Focus on the prize, and not on your failures in other words!

"Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13.

Remember, many can respond to the altar. In fact, we all should respond when God speaks to our hearts and not harden ourselves. But how many are willing to live out the committment? How many are willing to persevere in the face of discouragement and hardship? When the "good feeling" is not always there to spur us on. Are you willing? I pray you will be one of those who will step out from the crowd and say yes. Step out and be set apart by God. Set apart the days, minutes and seconds and live them worshipfully unto God. Remember, it's not too late to respond to God even now. God waits for you His dear little child, His heart waits for you, His power ever-ready to transform you. Open your heart and hear His whispers once again.

BREAD needs prayer

We need to return to prayer.

O how far we have wondered from this age-old Christian discipline. Prayer. The thing we all know that moves the hands of God.

Return to prayer ppl of God. Cut that 30 mins of watching can't-add-a-single-ounce-of-value shows like Parental Guidance. Cut off 30 mins of playing one dota game. Cut off playing one Tiberium Wars mission a day. Cut off internet-browsing by 30 mins.

If we return to the Lord, He will come and embrace us. If we pray again, He will send His rain again.

Remember the times where you were so passionate for God. It came through an active life of walking with God.

For those who cannot make it for pre-service prayer, please please please be punctual for service, respect God's presence. Don't make Him wait for you like you're the towkay. Let's practise what we learnt about The Fear of God. More importantly, don't miss out on the awesome things God does for His people as we worship Him.

The finishing line.

The finishing line.

A place of glory. Where Jesus will come and meet you directly. The pain of the earthly life will fade in the glory of His face. No more tears cos He will wipe them all away. No more sorrow cos His joy will consume you. No more weaknesses cos we'll be made perfect.

What a place.

But to get there requires a long ride, a tough ride fraught with not just the dangers, but the enticements of the numerous forks in the road, beckoning us to choose the other paths.

So many other paths to choose from. Many have treaded down the other paths. They've done it for... money, career, relationships, the thrill of sin, a life of pleasure, attractive lifestyle, worldly friends, ambition, studies, the list goes on.

Will you? will u become of those people who used to walk on the narrow road of life, but are now found on the wide and broad path- easy to walk- but leads to destruction?
We've seen many haven't we? Even in this LG.

As what auntie Lillian told the leaders on this sat: "I don't know how many of you will be at the finishing line. But i want to be there". Remember this. At the end of the day, its your own walk with God. Your leaders can't walk it for you. We can only help you along, giving you the gatorade and 100plus u need along the way, and teaching how to run. But the running has to be done by you.

How many of you will be there? I don't know. But i wanna be at the finishing line. I pray that you'll all be there too. Don't just start. Don't just run fast from time to time. FINISH THE RACE.

Something Worth Waiting For

Many of us have encountered God so much over the last year. We've known how it felt- the feeling of being able to do everything and anything for God. We've felt the inexpressible joy of being loved by God, being His sons and daughters.

Maybe some of you have hit a dry patch. A dry patch where there's no water. You have a few drops of God's presence here and there but that's it. Maybe you are starting to dig wells at your own places, in your own ways, by filling up your hunger with other things.

You know what's worth waiting for? The rain of God. The rain of God that will wet your soul so much that you will once again forget the feeling of being lost and wanting. The rain that will fill your spirits again.

We learnt about hungering for God and His presence on Saturday. Let's carry this hunger to our own lives. Start to read His word. Start to pray again. Start to fast from things you have been addicted. Start to set aside time again. We also learnt about worship. Keep worshipping God. Worship is more than song and dance. Its a lifestyle that you live before God, that pleases Him.

Why? so when God's rain falls, you'll be there to soak in the rain. Dont' be like the 10 people in the Parable of the 10 virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), who waited for the Bridegroom at first, but who did not bring enough oil and when they left, the Bridegroom came.

Feeling dry? Keep staying faithful in the Lord. So that when the rain of God comes, you'll be waiting at the right place, soaking in the rain of His glory.

CNY greetings to all of you!

Hope all those who came today had a great time fellowshipping with one another.

Those who didn't come, we missed ya.

Food for thought this CNY. As we celebrate CNY, and remember all of our relatives, especially those we only see and talk to once a year, let's also remember God's faithfulness.

Its so easy to forget God's faithfulness in our lives isnt it. For those of us who attend service consistently, I think its a great time to reflect on God's faithfulness in our lives, and how He's carried us through all the years we've known Him.

Remember those times You felt that You can't bear those burdens on your own? Remember who was there. Remember those times You cried silently in your heart. Remember who you called upon and who helped you.

Remember.

Remember.

Remember God's love and His faithfulness to us, to everyone of us.

Facing a tough time? Let your faith be grounded in the experiences of God's faithfulness, to climb the unknown wall in front of you.

Facing pain? Let your past experiences with God spur you to trust Him once again.

The stakes may seem higher, the mountain steeper, and the pain greater. But remember: God's faithfulness is not limited to the ease of our trials.

Trust.

Trust Him to carry You through your disappointments, unknown situations, pain, and obstacles which seem tough.

Trust, cos of His faithfulness.

Whose sandals are you?

Many many sandals and shoes around nowadays. There is really no short of brands like Birkenstock, Adidas, Quicksilver, Flash N Splash, and Puma. You name it. Ranging from the really expensive ones to the cheap-o ones. From the really excellent ones that last forever but stink badly like the army sandals, all the way to the ones that you use for only one month.

Some have more than one pair of sandals! The first one is to show off and the other one for bad weather like rain. The fashionable ones cannot get wet or else the color gets drained:( Haha. The bible talks about footwear too. One in Ephesians and one in the gospels. The sandals/shoe of Christ:

Luke 3:16 (New King James Version):
16 John answered, saying to all, “ I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Luke 3:16 (New Life Version):
16 But John said to all of them, "I baptize you with water. There is One coming Who is greater than I. I am not good enough to get down and help Him take off His shoes. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Those sandals must have felt extremely good to be on Christ feet whom even John, declared that he is not even worthy to touch or untie! Imagine, the person whom Jesus declared as the greatest prophet (Luke 7:28) cannot even touch those things that move upon, mingle in and tread on mud and all the not-so-good-to-say grounds! It must have been some privelege to be on Jesus' feet. The great honor!

I was challenged to ask myself whose shoe/sandal I want to be? As a Christian I cannot aspire to be a sandal on someone who will not give me the promise of eternal life. The closer to Jesus the better. If not near His heart then possible near His feet. But even then am I able to be His shoe?
If I want God to use me as His sandals, I know my talents and abilities dont count. What counts is my heart; My availability to God and my 100% away from this world and just set apart from Him!!

Then God by His love and grace, will pick me up from the sandals shop, put me through His special factory, put on me the best cushion, the best design and an awesome Energy that is way better than Nike "boing". Yeah!! Sandals for the ONLY ONE!! My surety is in God to the path that He will bring me too:)

We had a farewell for him on Saturday.

Once again, thank you James for being such a great part of many of our lives. The rest have been said on the little booklet presented to him.

HEllo BReaders! Here comes a New Race and a new season. Hope you guys are excited! Open your lives to God and allow Him to mould you, shape you and make you GROW. Step by step and day by day. Be prepared:)

Your first few steps to your new race has been revealed to you. One of them is ACcoUnTabiliTY. Accountability is not calling up one another and sharing cheat codes about the latest games or sharing the latest shoe shops in orchard rd or even telling each about the latest bgr gossip in church!

Accountability is allowing someone else to invade your life, challenge you and help you to grow in your Christian walk. This is your way to Christian growth and maturity in this season. Older ones got to start the ball rolling. Call up the younger ones in the faith. You are their role model. It doesn't matter if you like to play rugby and your buddy likes to play table tennis. It's the love of God in the fellowship that you must share. Call or meet up! Grow in love for one another.

Take this steps if you really dont know how to begin:
1. Dial your friends number. Once he picks up the phone, say, "hello"
2. Ask how is his school, cca, homework etc. or just check out Aunt Lilian's notes on buddying.
3. Say a prayer if you feel led to.
4. Finally, ask the Holy Spirit to help you be accountable to each other.

Hi BREAD! This is your LG. Plus Guangzheng, Jiagui, James and Caleb who left earlier and was not inside the photo. Wasted. Its ok. You all are part of us too! We'll find a way to get a complete LG photo one day.

Anyway wanna thank you all for putting your lives into this project to reach many for Christ. Here's an excerpt from Ps Ben's email to the LG leaders:

"Last night in JoinT, I believe that many there heard the gospel for the first time. They are a different type of crowd who would never have stepped into a Christian event. The seeds have been sown and I believe will one day take route. There were 18 decisions last night out of which 13 or 14 are salvation cases. We thank God for these salvations. Now we have to follow-up these new believers so that they will become committed believers.

"Probably some in the RGen or even amongst you, may feel a little disappointed. Please do not be discouraged. This event has stirred up more hunger in my heart to reach the unreachable. I personally feel the need to pray even more for Revival to hit my generation and your generation. Encourage your members. Let them know our work is not in vain. We have done our best, and we are only vessels and results must be left in God's hands. Amen? "

Amen to that. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9.

This event has also brought us as a ministry closer together. We toiled, prayed and did outreach together. Let's continue to follow Christ in our lives!

You are not forgotten

Hello people of God,

We are approaching a season where we are going to see new faces in our midst. While we are praying for God to save the lost, and bring them in, we need to remember something real real important: We are also loved very very much.

You are loved very much by God. Yup. Don't ever forget that. God's love doesn't depend upon what you can give Him or what you can do for Him. He doesn't require anything from you. Though He desires good change in you, He loves you the way you are. God's love is way beyond all that man can provide for you. The bible tells us that nothing can seperate us from the love of Christ: No trouble, persecution or demons can! Please don't trade this love for anything else.

You are loved by us leaders. Remember, God put us in this family of love. As we gear ourselves for new people, don't forget. Each one of you are precious in the sight of us leaders. That's why you get messages and calls if you don't turn up for service. That's why we sometimes scold you. That's why we spend time with you. Don't forget that.

Questions to think about:

1. Are you receiving the love of God and holding on? Or are you simply allowing other loves to fill your heart?

2. Are you showing the love that God has placed in your heart and sharing it with someone? The bible says that you cannot claim to love God, whom you can't see, when you can't love your brother/sister, whom you can see and touch!

Who Stands?

Fiery darts of the enemy are coming towards us everyday. Who is still standing and who will fall? Will those who fall pick themselves up and fight? Children of God, you are in a war that many of us have yet to deeply realise. We are in warfare against "...principalities, powers, spiritual hosts in the heavenly places..." This warfare is not an easy warfare and it is definately not for Chickens.

Learn to wear God's armor. Put it on everyday!! That is the only way to win. As we head towards REvival, the devil is heading towards God's people with as many weapons as he has. Some of you are feeling down, rejected, depressed, angry. You thought you had overcome certain sins but it's coming back. If you feel this way, you are not alone!! But there's one thing we all have to do as warriors in God's army and that is to stand. STAND UP!! Stand up in your spirit and tell the devil right in his face that you will not be defeated because Jesus has won the battle! Just stand up and praise God. Don't lose this fight. God doens't want you to lose the war that He has already won 2000 years ago.

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Walking with Jesus

Hey children of God,

Hope God has been challenging you in your individual walk with Him. He sure has been challenging me.

Many of us go through a lot of ups and downs in our spiritual lives. One week on fire for God, the next week bad. Or for some, on saturday respond, on monday sin. If you know you cannot go on like this, read on.

The conclusion of the Christian walk is this: Everytime you are spending time with God daily, keeping in step with Him, you will not experience a downside spiritually. Although trials may come, but you'll feel so safe and secure. However, once you stop keeping in touch with God, you realise that you will start to stink in your spiritual life, which will inevitably leak out through attitudes and actions.

Walking with Jesus is something we all know is important. After all, many have been nagging you to do so (even me for some of you). We even feel God's challenge to spend time with Him. Why not changed?

Being challenged feels so good. But God wouldn't want you to stop there. He wants you to change also. No point feeling challenged but not changing.

How to change? I guess it boils down to the simple stuff: spending time with God. If you haven't developed one before, maybe its time to start. Starting off a good habit is difficult, but God'll help you. For those who have experienced great times with God but seem to have lost it, time to cry out before God to restore it.

Let's see some steps we can take to develop this area

1. Set a time everyday.
Need not be 1 hour. 1/2 hr or 20mins will do. Set for yourself a minimum time so you won't rush through thinking about the game that you're gonna play after QT.

2. Stick to it when possible.
This is important! We must guard our QT with the Lord. Just as you guard your favourite TV show time, must also do so with God. In fact, you should be guarding it more jealously.

3. Don't limit yourself.
Don't just read a passage and say a short prayer which is about the same every night. Be proactive with God. Sometimes, write a prayer out in your journal, worship God, listen to God, pour out your feelings! Imagine talking to your best friend every night about the same topics. It'll be a dull relationship.

4. Press in.
Yes. Even if you don't feel like it. Experience breakthroughs in worship and prayer at home too! If it can happen in church, it can happen at home cos the same Holy Spirit is at work.

Yup. Hope these pointers are helpful. Let's continue to grow in God. =)

Evangelistic meeting is over, but don't stop evangelising! As you go back to school this week, pray and ask God for opportunities to share the gospel with one person. It could be over recess, it could be over a free period. It could be when your friend starts to share their problems with you...it could be anywhere. Start with trying to share with one person for this week...it's an adventure that you are gonna take with God. Just you, and Him.

Pray and ask Him to lead you to one person...it's gonnabe exciting!

Sharing the gospel is simple, you can start by sharing your testimony of how God changed your life, don't need to use big words, just share simply. And ask the Holy Spirit to lead you..

Hey BREADERS!

Some of you people have been inviting your friends. Not all came, and those that came not all were touched. But I can tell you this, as you keep sharing the gospel as the Holy Spirit directs, something is happening that you don't see.

For those who came, although no one responded, but I can tell you, that as they sat there listening to the word of God, testimonies and be in the presence of God, something we can't see is happening. Who knows, what has been shared today may bear fruit next week. We never know. Results are not up to us, but obedience is. As you guys and gals continue to life up the name of Jesus, one day God will reward you. Don't simply look at results and give up. After years of sharing the gospel here and there, my first convert happened only last year! In june. (my army friend), then God allowed me be part of the salvation of some of you. So don't worry.

I shared with someone today too after service, but he din accept. So what? I know I obeyed God, and that's more important than anything. Continue to share the word with your friends! Don't give up! Press onwards!

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9. This is God's word! So take it and believe it with all your hearts!!! Brothers and sisters, let's press on towards God. May God find us faithful the day we see Him face to face.

TEStimonies--> The thing about testimony is this, you see God working in your life, moving in your life and it becomes necessary to thank God forr what He's done or doing in your life. Why? so that you dont forget God's goodness over your life.

When you share:

You declare God's praise
you encourage another person with your life
you smite the enemy saying Jesus is King and satan is underneath your feet.

Yeah.,. the devil hates you sharing testimony.. He really really despisess it because it gives God so much glory! we gotta learn to love what mr. S.A.Tan hates and destroy what is not of God's kingdom.

Church REtreat- We saw how the Holy Spirit moves when He's given the space too. We also learned that the legendary MASKED MEN are back!
God healed many people. Go hear from those who received it! Then there was a powerful presence of God on the last night, different people,different experince.

Night of encounter! Most of you got fired up. waiting for your testimonies!!

Faith In God--- BAPT

I would recommend you either believe God up to the hilt, or else not to believe at all. Believe this book of God, every letter of it, or else reject it. Be satisfied with nothing less than a faith that swims in the deeps of divine revelation; a faith that paddles about the edge of the water is poor faith at best. Todd, a three year old boy from Rhode Island went down to the seacoast to fly a kite. Never having flown a kite before, Todd had obvious doubts. His father assured him that all was well, and the kite would go up as planned. As Todd unravelled the string, and watched the kite go up, he was heard to say, "I knew it would fly, daddy. You said it would." Simple statement, profound implications.

I saw myself going to the countries and bringing God's revival upon the land. I'm 19... But i see and believe and take action and persevere and rejoice to see God's glory comin on the world one day. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. 5He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. The word of God is clear. Jesus mentioned to the church in Sardis that although they had a reputation of loving God, inside them they were dying in their love. And i'm sure this can apply to some of us. WAKE UP! Strengthen what is about to die. How? Look in v3: "Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it and repent."

Repent of what? Repent of the lack of life! Repent for the lack of love for our Lord. Repent of you self-centredness. My dear brothers and sisters. I do not wish to see you leave this church gradually. But I'm saddened that it has already started to happen. STRENGTHEN WHAT IS ABOUT TO DIE! Repent of your lack of humility and brokenness before the throne of God.

Not all are like that. But for those who know, for those who feel this word pierce into their heart, do not harden your heart. Repent.

Hello Bros and sisters, kids and all the underaged(incl Gerald) hahahahahaha...

You guys remember what you did last weekend? Who made the commitment? You did. who me? Yes you. Cannot be. Then who? It's you and me!!(song of who stole the cookie from the cookie jar) haha..

I made this commitment a couple of years back. Auntie Lillian gave me a book on my first B'day in !Ouch. It's titled "Ignite your passion for God". It was the 1st time I heard and understood revival. Real Revival!! Everyday Revival!! It's still my best and most precious birthday gift. From the time I started that book(It had to be done everyday and spanned over 2 months) my life was really changed. Everyday in Serangoon JC a new adventure. Ministering to people online. Debating with anti-Christ online. Ministering to my brothers in !Ouch and desiring God's anointing. At home new encounters everyday! I admit, I still fell sometimes but when I made the commitments through that book, every weekend was not a time to get recharged but to recharge others!! Yup! That's the truth. Guess what? Mother Lillian asked me to lend the book to her because there was no more book in Singapore.

I don't expect you guys to be superhero Christians overnight. But if God gave me enough grace, to let go of my old life and to accept the love of the cross and to eat, sleep and breathe REVIVAL , then He has given you the same POWER to do so! Perservere, Pray and make the commitments everyday. I've laminated it for you guys... Put it in front of you so that you know that you die to self everyday and live for God. All I did was to decide I wanted to live my life for God and God DID THE REST! That's what you did last weekend. Do your QT everyday, pray like there's no tommorrow and thrash the devil out of his socks!!

I know it's exam period. Let me tell you something. When my !Ouch guys were sitting through the first year exams, all their QT went up!! We knew we needed God to make it through. You need God this season more than anything else. Go, spend time with God. Honor God and He will never shortchange you! I learnt that as the truth. That's why I understood my exams were mere piece of papers and my relationship with God, ETERNAL, EVERLASTING!

I'll be praying for you! Continue to give your saturdays to God and see what that Great DAD of ours can do. No Man is Greater than His Prayer Life

Let's take a break from all the fun and pictures and get down to serious stuff with God.

It's true that no man is greater than his prayer life, if we are to name the things we can do for God, it has to start in our prayer life. If we are not even praying, then the works we do for God are often in our own strength. It's in prayer that God starts to change our hearts to become like His. When your heart becomes like Jesus, you will naturally do what Jesus would do if He were walking here on earth. You wouldn't even need to ponder and think WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? WHO DOES GOD WANT ME TO REACH OUT TO? You would just know. Yes you will!

So stop and think awhile. How much of Your heart has been changed to be like His? One cannot change his own heart, only God can. AND only through times of honest prayer before God can He do so. Want God to change your heart? Want Him to change your life? Want Him to change your family? Your friends? your school? Your neighbourhood? Your nation?? The world?? YES! God can change the world starting in your house, in your bedroom, at the foot of your bed, as you cry out to Him.

This week i make a personal committment to pray everyday besides my QT. How bout you? Have you taken your committment to prayer one step further and ticked at least one box in the list we gave out on SAT? Or is that piece of paper lying forgotten in the bottom of your bag? Don't just be a Saturday Christian and forget about God on Monday to Friday. Don't live as if God only exists on Saturdays, and act like a Christian only in church. Bring God into your Mondays, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays...etc...

What is your committment?
1) To fast during recess and pray for my friends and family's salvation?
2) To set aside time to pray everyday besides my Quiet Time with God?
3) To keep myself accountable to my buddy and leaders about my prayer life?
4) To pray until i see my generation saved, to persevere until i see revival?

i hope you have made up your mind to do at least one thing.
For those of you who are in the same school EG. Northbrooks and RI, you can prayer walk your school or fast and pray together during recess! Unite in prayer together, you don't have to pray alone everyday. For those of you who are alone, you can start sharing the gospel with your friends after you pray. You can do a prayer walk alone for a start.

Remember wad God spoke to us during worship? That He'll never leave us NO MATTER WHAT we go thru. So BREADer, as you go back to school and into your daily routine again, keep this promise deep in your heart. When you're feeling tired and sick of school, remember that God promises He'll be faithful thru all the pain, busyness and sianness.

Anyway, all that aside, here are some light-hearted photos!

Tip#1 : Always look down and focus on your work and not anywhere else, even if someone is trying to take a photo of you.

Tip#3: Press on, even if your buddy has succumbed to the sleep monster. You're almost there.....

Are YOu Still Thirsty?

HEllo!! How's the holidays? hope it has been pretty wonderfully packed for you guys with all the assignments and training. If it's not then there's gotta be something very wrong with your school! HAHa..

Well, I hope the cup that we gave to you last week has been scribbled on and stuffed with a lot of small notes as you continue to ask God to fill you of ALL your needs. God has been filling me of my emotional needs of depression(it happens a lot especially if you sleep in camp, without any close friends or family by you) and helping me overcome my laziness in my work place. It has been better this week as I ask God to fill and refill me inspite of all the training and work schedule. God really fills me and sometimes it is really tangible. Encountered God on tues after the fun and games at Gerald's House. Pretty cool experience when God encounters you at home.

Continue to do your "homework" roti boys and girls! Make your commitment and make God proud of you. JESUS WANTS TO FILL YOUR THIRST!! That's why He gave you HIs life!
On the cross, this is what He has done and wants to do in your life:

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled Himself to be a man and died on the cross so He could meet our need for a Savior and Lord.
He desires a personal relationship with us inspite of our sin.
He loves us like a crazy friend, father and coach!
He knows who we truly are deep within.
He wants to strengthen and nourish us all the time.
He offers us FREEDOM from all our sins and gives us eternal life.

Just like on Tuesday, you all heard God speaking through the song that He will be with you no matter where you go and no matter where you are.

I want you to try something this few days: If you feel really tired and think you can't do your QT, say a simple prayer and ask God to refresh you to be able to do your QT with God. Wait and don't go to sleep. Begin to sing a song if you want to and see the energy just beginning to flow through you! Trust me or rather trust tHe God that has taught me this! It works all the time!! Enjoy the weekend!! :D

How has your week been so far? Tests? Assignments? Stress? CCA? Friends? =( I hope dat in the midst of it all, you have squeezed out some time for Jesus. Don't leave him as an outsider, looking in at all the activities that you have, start to include Him in your every activity. Invite Him to spend the day with you as your best friend. Hang out with Jesus! He's the coolest fren you would probably find around school! Amen? =)

Well BREADers, just to share a little, the week has been rather stressful and tiring for me. Its that time of the semester when work goes into full gear! Deadlines to rush! Meetings to attend! So i can understand if ure having a tough week, i am too!

Thank God that He sustains. He promises to NEVER leave our side, not one single moment of the day. When you walk to school, He's walking next to you, when you eat in the canteen He's sitting with you, and.....when you fall asleep during lesson, He's watching you!!!! hahahahah.....

Hang in there ya, the MARCH HOLS *applauses* are coming!!

Our BREAD evangelistic outreach and outing is coming, and I promise you a GREAT GREAT GREAT time. In case you think we are jus gonna spend time in Gerald's house, let me tell you, you are in for lots of sun and grass! haha. Oh do wear comfortable sporty attire, and bring a change of clothes if you need it!

Wad do i mean????? It just means that u gotta drink lots of water before you come, cos we are gonna play hard on TUESDAY! More surprises you all will find out later.....
I hope you guys have tried inviting your non-christian and backslidden frens to come and enjoy our company... you can let them noe that we will be playing games and there will be FREE lunch for them....

The Mercies of God

For some of us, yesterday was another encounter with the Holy Spirit. God's been so good hasn't he? And he's been so merciful and gracious to us, in spite of all our wrongs and imperfections.

In the light of this, I want to reiterate what Ps Ben preached on Saturday, from Romans 12:1
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship."

In view of God's mercy. Yes, because of God's mercies, we feel that we have to obey. Out of a response of love to someone who loved us so much, who haved called us out of darkness into his wondrous light.

Live your life around this truth.

Wow. Today's LG was really great wasn't it.

The Holy Spirit really moved among us. Prior to this, our LG was very disunited, and it seems that everyone was just doing their own things. But God was faithful. Some of us have been praying for this breakthru to happen, and it has. God is working in our midst. I believe this is just the start only. We have so much more to travel in God, especially more bonding between the guys and girls, but i thank God that he has given us a headstart on this.

We need to see that disunity is what the devil wants us to have, to cause us to dislike one another so that we cannot flow together as a LG. Tonight, the devil has lost ground. But he will be back, if we're not careful.

I personally noticed a good change in atmosphere during dinner.

Let us keep loving one another. Remember John 13:14-15:
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

The State of our Love

Jesus tells us to love one another just as he has loved us. Are we doing that?

Do we bother about one another's lives as fellow BREADers, or do we just treat each other as simply 'hi-bye' friends. It definitely takes time to build up a good relationship, but how many of us actually start to do so?

To be honest, our LG is lacking in the fellowship aspect. This is something we must think and pray about. Also, we need to ask ourselves, how much do I love the people of God?

These are questions that we should ponder before this week's LG session. Let's be honest about this with God.

The State of our Heart

What has been the state of our hearts the past week or so? Its an important question to ask ourselves because, as the bible says, "guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life". Guard your heart. Before you can guard it, you need to know its state.

"Search me O Lord and know me". Ask God to search your heart first. Has other things replaced God in your life? Are there idols? I'm not just talking about idols along the lines of those statues with an image but no life. I'm also talking about idols like school, friends, CCA, self-ambition, sinful habits and even the love of money.

We need to clear all these rubbish if we want to love God. Jesus tells us that we cannot serve both God and money. You would tend to love one more than the other. Likewise, we cannot serve both self-ambition and God.. and the list continues.

When we start to replace God in our heart with something else, He will eventually leave without even you realising it. Let's not grieve the Holy Spirit in this, my dear brothers and sisters, but let us become a people who run after God with all our heart, who will take the trouble to find out what pleases God and do it.This brings us to the next issue (see above).

RUNNING AWAY FROM THE FATHER - - -by Max Lucado

When I was seven years old, I ran away from home.I’d had enough of my father’s rules and decided I could make it on my own, thank you very much. With my clothes in a paper bag, I stormed out the back gate and marched down the alley.

Like the prodigal son, I decided I needed no father. Unlike the prodigal son, I didn’t go far. I got to the end of the alley and remembered I was hungry, so I went back home.

But though the rebellion was brief, it was rebellion nonetheless. And had you stopped me on that prodigal path between the fences and asked me who my father was, I just might have told you how I felt. I just might have said, “I don’t need a father. I’m too big for the rules of my family. It’s just me, myself and my paper bag.”

I don’t remember saying that to anyone, but I remember thinking it. And I also remember rather sheepishly stepping in the back door and taking my seat at the supper table across from the very father I had, only moments before, disowned.

Did he know of my insurrection? I suspect he did. Did he know of my denial? Dads usually do. Was I still his son? Apparently so. (No one else was sitting in my place.)

Had you gone to my father after you had spoken to me and asked, “Mr. Lucado, your son says he has no need of a father. Do you still consider him your son?” What would my dad have said?

I don’t have to guess at his answer. He called himself my father even when I didn’t call myself his son. His commitment to me was greater than my commitment to him.

I didn’t hear the rooster crow like Peter did. I didn’t feel the fish belch like Jonah did. I didn’t get a robe and a ring and sandals like the prodigal did. But I learned from my father on earth what those three learned from their Father in heaven.

Our God is no fair-weather Father. He’s not into this love-’em-and- leave-’em-stuff. I can count on him to be in my corner no matter how I perform. You can, too.

Venue:
Gerald's house, Astoria Park. Just behind Kembangan MRT. You can come in by yourself by signing in at the guardhouse.
Tower D #02-10. There are 2 Tower Ds. Mine is the second lobby.

Time:
10am at Kembangan MRT. I'll be there at 10am. Give me a call or message if you're going to be later. ITs actually free and easy timings. Very casual. You can come whenever you wish and go whenever you wish. But do let me know.

Activities:
There'll be lunch! Provided by my mother.
It'll be very free-and-easy, so feel free to bring your swimming attire, tennis attire or anything. Bring your own games also. There's a soccer field next to Kembangan MRT.
There'll be snacks too. So you can pig out at my house.

PS: As to whether there'll be hongbaos, even I do not know the answer. Oranges are welcomed though. :p

Dear BREADer….

Here’s something that we are gonna start in LG.

Have you ever spent awesome moments in the presence of our Almighty God? Those moments when He whispered tender words and gentle encouragement into your heart? Spoke to you from a Bible passage or blazed a vision for the lost into your soul and you were just bursting to shout it out?

If you are saying YES please read on, if you are saying NO please read on too.

Starting this year, you guys n girls can start to take on a new role in BREAD. It’s called the SHARER.

Here’s what’s going to happen…
Each LG, we will set aside time for one person to share what God spoke to them in a particular Quiet Time (QT) during the week or visions that God showed when you spent time with Him. This sharing is meant to be short, informal and heartfelt. No need for you to prepare in great detail since it’s simply what God has spoken to you. All you gotta do is write down what God has spoken to you in your journal and bring it along with you to refer to as you share in LG.

This a good opportunity for you to be used by God to encourage BREAD. Many of you have dreams of becoming an LG leader or preaching to the nations for God. Here is the place to start. Serve God in this small way first and you will move on to doing bigger things for Him.

If you wanna take up this role in BREAD, just leave your name in the comments section or let me know personally. We are not gonna make this compulsory, so interested people gotta sign up here!

Happy 2006! This will be my first post here and I hope the BREADers will continue to read the blog frequently for LG updates! I also wanna encourage you all to leave comments and responses to each post we put up either in the comments section or tag board. Try answering these questions honestly in the privacy of your room now, between you and God and think about how much time and effort actually goes towards God. This is between you and Him.

What you spend your time thinking about and doing reflects your priorities and whether King Jesus is sitting on the throne of your heart. An idol is something sits on the throne of your heart instead of Jesus. It’s something that we spend more effort in maintaining, than maintaining our relationship with God. An idol is something you love more than God.

An idol is not just a golden statue that some of your parents pray to, or a pop star who looks cool dancing on stage, singing trendy tunes. It could be a computer game, your studies, CCA etc. You could be worshipping an idol in your life now. Let God search your heart as you read this. And ask God for forgiveness if he shows you areas in your life, then ask Him for strength not to go back into it. “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9.

Don’t be afraid to share with James, Gerald or myself if you need help overcoming an idol in your life.

Lastly,
to place King Jesus on the throne of your life and keep the idols out, you need to FIX your eyes on Him. This means that He has to start to occupy more of our thoughts and actions.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

Some practical ways you can do this..
1) Begin the day with a prayer/ QT.
2) Yak away to God during the day. Exp. When waiting for the teacher to come in b4 your next lesson,

“Wah God, i feel very sian, please help me to get thru the next period with your strength!”
3) Think about a verse from the Bible throughout the day especially when you’re tired or need recharging.

How to listen to the master's voice? How do we listen to what God is saying to us?
One of the ways which we can hear from God is through His word. When we read the bible, we should also expect to learn things from His word.

Four questions we can ask ourselves when we read a portion of the bible:

1. Is there a promise for me to claim?
- An example would be the promise that God will look after your needs:

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear... Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Matthew 6:25-26

- Why? Because some of us habe lost the simplicity of trust in Christ

- Worship reveals who we truly are in front of God. When we sing certain songs, do we sing it because we've been doing it, or singing it in ''regret'', wishing that we had done it?

2. Is there a command for me to obey?
- We must obey God. Observe in the following verses:

"Now this is what the Lord almighty says: 'Give careful thoughts to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. you earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.' This is what the Lord almighty says: 'Give careful thoughts to your ways [ Consider your ways] ' "

Haggai 1:5-7

3. Is there a sin which we should avoid?
- Living in sin will blind us eventually. We need to watch ourselves, and not get involved in habitual sin.

4. Is there an example that I can follow?
- Follow the good examples of biblical characters. Also:

"Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith."

Hebrews 13:7

To conclude, without increase in knowledge, we cannot increase in our love for God. That is why Paul writes:

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God."

Philipians 1:9-11

So we need to increase more in the knowledge of God if we want to love God. That means reading more of your bible! Feel free to post your thoughts and what really spoke to you under comments.

Getting off on the right FOot!

hello Bread! Its already the 1st day of school and the 3rd day of a brand new year. As you begin this year, what's going on in your minds? WHo is still as hungry and passionate for God as he/she was 6 months ago? To be completely honest, I became very comfortable and caught up during the Christmas season. Too much cards and too much shopping to do. It had basically taken the most important priority in my life, God.

Right before X'mas itself, the Spirit impressed upon my heart there was something wrong and I couldn't figure it out. think you guys can relate to the period of time when there was so much oppresion and Cheryl clearly spoke in the Spirit that we are getting too distracted. The vision of the fish leaping out of the pond. Jay's vision. Finally when the Xmas day came, there was such a lack in the move of the Spirit. God was gracious enough to give us 13 salvations. I realised I desperately needed to get back with God. Thank God that the next few days, the Holy Spirit enabled me to cry out for God and there was a breakthrough on Wednesday(28th Dec).

How many of us are beginning to feel "sick" of God already? Who is beginning to feel the reason why we weren't able to pray on 31st dec was not the devil but rather because our focal was not on Jesus? I had a prayer meet earlier that day with MAD from 2pm to 3.20pm and the PRESEnce of God was very very tangible. No Joke! Everybody was just spontaneous, praising God at the top of their voices and with overflowing tears of joy!

Let's get back our attention on the cross. The One Guy that loved you SOOO much that He looked at the cross and said I'll do it for you. You deserve God because Jesus did it for you and I. Get back into the relationship that God has called you to. Imagine the GREatest of the Greatest One by your side everyday. ONly because of your relationship with God can people get to know Jesus better. Imagine people getting saved, changed and impacted just by your presence because God has decided to be with you in your house, just pouring out the glory, power and grace and mercy that He has planned for you! Isn't it exciiting?

Begin to be desperate everyday for God's face. Read the Word, pray and Worship God everyday. Your leaders are only given to you by God for the very reason of pointing you to a greater relationship with the ALmighty ONE! Let's look at our present relationship with total honesty and restart on a new adventure to seek the First Love!

Reflections on 2005

2005 has been a great year for myself. And I'm sure in some ways God has moved in your lives as you reflect back on the year that has passed. For most of you, it has been the first year you have spent with the love of God. Prior to that, you were once enemies with God. A good track of verse that you should read.

"It wasn't so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn't know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. Its a wonder God didn't lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah." Ephesians 2:1-10 [MSG version]

BREADers, as you begin your new year, look back at 2005, and truly thank God for the greatest gifts he gave: His forgiveness, love and mercy. Look back, thank God for all he's done for you, about his love for you. And it will not be difficult to trust God for another year of his faithfulness and love.
